Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the hypothesis that, when intelligence is held constant, persons with a high capacity for abstract thinking will synthesize many images to depict an “average” or “generalized” man in human figure drawings while persons with less capacity for abstraction will more likely represent a “stereotyped” man in their drawings. Ss were 70 male high school students. The criterion for capacity to abstract was the Similarities subtest of the WAIS. The results support the hypothesis.
