Abstract
A number of studies have made use of human figure drawings as a measure of body image, i.e., of knowledge of one's own body, of awareness of the functional interrelations of its parts, etc. The present study sought to determine the validity of figure drawings for such use. A Draw-A-Person Test body image scale did not reflect changes in body image which occurred as a result of sensory-motor training. Moreover, the scale was not significantly related to one established measure of body image and only minimally related to a second measure.
