Four geriatric patients from a psychiatric hospital were reinforced for exercising on a stationary bicycle. 3 of the 4 increased their rate of exercising under the experimental condition, suggesting that the implementation of token reinforcement contingencies may facilitate the objectives of the physical therapist.
