Abstract
Measurement of the frequency and duration of violent episodes in children's animated cartoons shown during 1 wk. on 2 TV networks led to the conclusions that (a) significant differences in the amount of violence existed between the 2 networks, and (b) on both networks dramatic (“straight”) cartoons were, on the average, more violent than comic (slapstick) cartoons.
