Mean Q values for ratings obtained using seven-point equal-appearing interval scales for various speech dimensions were gathered from the speech pathology literature. An inspection of these data suggests that mean Q values may differ with speech dimension being rated, type of speech stimuli, anchoring procedure, and distribution of average scale values for the stimuli. Interpretation of mean Q value is discussed.
