3- and 4-yr.-old girls and boys were required to make choices among the various sex-typed items on the It scale under 3 instructional conditions. Results showed that both boys and girls have learned to make sex-typed discriminations by 3 yr. of age; and that girls were better or as good as boys, 4-yr.-olds were better than 3-yr.-olds, and children with an opposite-sex sibling were better than those with no sibling at making sex-typed discriminations for a girl and/or a boy.
