Abstract
3 of 5 observers of a light in the night sky that was actually moving continuously along a linear course reported it as stationary as long as the light was on. This phenomenon, “autostasis,” seems to be opposite to the well-known phenomenon of autokinesis, or apparent motion of an actually stationary light in an undifferentiated field.
