The standardization data for the ITPA were analyzed to determine the variance components of its nine subtests. Over-all, the proportion of the total variance accounted for by the specificity was about three-quarters of that accounted for by the communality. This finding was compared with those of similar analyses of the WISC and the Developmental Test of Visual Perception.
