Vantress chicks were reared from hatching in a complex environment or a restricted environment and were imprinted (experimentals) or not imprinted (controls) at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, or 18 hr. of experience in these environments. On test, complex reared-imprinted chicks showed stronger following behavior and stronger discrimination between the imprinting model and a previously-unseen model across imprinting ages.
