An experiment was performed to demonstrate: (1) that student responses can be effectively brought under the control of programmed visual presentations, and (2) that verbal concepts can be acquired through the practice of discriminations about non-verbally presented science demonstrations. Results based on the test performance of 7th and 8th grade students provided support for both propositions.
