Abstract
In order to determine whether the nature of the perceptual object entered into the process of impression formation 80 Ss were read lists of adjectives, favorable and unfavorable, presumably descriptive of either an individual or a group. Ss then indicated their favorableness of impression for either the individuals or groups on 8-point rating scales. Significant differences suggested that the form of the integrative process in impression formation is dependent upon the nature of the perceptual object.
