Comments are made on a series of studies by Hakes and Jenkins (1962) regarding applicability of a group paired-associate learning method to the study of mediated generalization. It is suggested that their conclusions do not unambiguously follow from their results. A comparison is made regarding relative variability of scores obtained by group versus individual testing.
