Abstract
Scores on the Metropolitan Readiness Tests and the Rutgers Drawing Test were submitted to factor analyses. Two factors, Verbal Comprehension, and Visual-Motor Capacity were identified. The number readiness factor which is presumed in the Numbers subtests of the Metropolitan failed to appear as a distinct factor but was subsumed under the second factor in this study. Assessment of number readiness is recommended for the possible isolation of this factor. The hypothesis that the number factor evolves from earlier perceptual and verbal abstract factors should also be tested in further research.
