Abstract
In this study, a qualitative analysis of the therapeutic use of writing individual storybooks by patients with brain disease is reported. The researchers aimed to examine how a group of brain disease patients integrated their personal stories by writing in a group work setting. A narrative approach was used for the data analysis. Results indicate that writing individual storybooks was therapeutic and could strengthen participants' awareness of personal competence. Writing in a group setting helped the patients realize the meaning of life and therefore was an effective strategy for patient rehabilitation. Implications for individual storybook use among groups of brain disease patients are discussed.
