Abstract
We are two hospice nurses. One has been in practice for a couple of decades, the other for two years. We traded writing, forming a call and response on the experience of loss—in our practice, in our lives. They are inextricable. Disturb one strand in the web of yearning and the reverberations spread throughout. We presented this at the 10th International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry. One of us spoke in italics; one did not. Throughout, the spirit of T.S. Eliot presided, from Norman Denzin's welcome at the conference opening to our conclusion. We are grateful that the congress grants voice to what is so often muffled.
