Abstract
Use of an inductively coupled plasma for elemental analysis of many organic compounds has been limited by the inability to provide sensitive analysis for a variety of nonmetallic elements. Data presented in this manuscript demonstrate detection limits and working curves showing usable dynamic ranges for oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine, and bromine in the vacuum ultraviolet region. The use of inductively coupled plasma as an element-selective gas-chromatographic detector is also investigated.
