In the second sentence of the Materials and methods section of the above article, two numbers were accidentally transposed. The sentence should read: ‘Briefly, 77,080 women aged 40-74 were allocated to invitation to periodic mammographic screening (active study population, ASP), and 55,985 to no invitation (passive study population, PSP)’. The transposed numbers were a purely textual error. They did not figure in the analysis and so the results and conclusions of the study remain unchanged.
