The finite element method and the realistic structure analysis are used to develop an accurate model of lip seals based on elastohydrodynamic analysis. This original model, very close to reality, helps to predict most of the working features of seals. Lubrication characteristics such as lubricant film thickness, rubbing torque and cavitation zones, hydrodynamic field pressure and inverse pumping leakage are investigated.
