Moiré interferometry of high sensitivity is applied in the present paper to solve the load distribution on the boundary of a semi-infinite plane. A hybrid method combining experimental data with numerical calculation is proposed. The displacement components normal to the edge are obtained from moiré fringes and the experimental results are substituted into linear algebraic equations to solve directly the contact stresses.
