Formulae of Baratta and Neal, Neuber, and Heywood are compared with available data on experimental stress-concentration factors in the literature for symmetrical U-notched plates.
From comparisons of such formulae, guidance is provided to the researcher and designer with regard to accuracy and tendency to under- or over-estimate.
