Abstract
In the present study, highly porous bulk Pd has been prepared by spark plasma sintering using silicon as a spacer material. The effects of the Si contents and sintering temperatures on the resultant porous materials were studied. It has been found that the porosity of porous Pd can be controlled by varying the content of Si, and their maximum porosity values reached 90%. The sintering temperature of 550°C and holding time of 5 min would be used to sinter porous bulk Pd with well developed necks. Meanwhile, the compressive properties of porous bulk Pd were also investigated.
