Abstract
The interfacial reaction layers of resistance spot welded joint made from aluminium alloy and austenitic stainless steel consisted of a mixed layer of Fe2Al5 and FeAl3 and an approximately 35 nm thick layer of FeAl2 beside steel. The reaction blocks in aluminium near the welding interface were observed, which were estimated as a hexagonal AlFeCr having a=2·451 nm and c=0·758 nm based on analysis of high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) image and selected area electron diffraction patterns (SADP).
