Abstract
In this paper, we model the ultrasound signal produced by blood-flow through an artery. Our model assumes a number of moving scatterers (red-blood cells), which are randomly distributed in the vessel. The Doppler effect is then introduced by changing the received signal shape in accordance with a calculated value gained from the speed of the scatterers. Variations in the shape of the Doppler spectrum during the cardiac cycle were simulated by including spectrum shape variations as an input to the model. Our proposed model is validated and shown to produce promising results when compared to previous studies.
