Abstract
Dynamic mechanical analysis experiments were conducted on various magnetoelastomers. The dynamic mechanical behaviour was characterised in terms of dynamic, storage and loss modulus values over a wide frequency and dynamic amplitude range with and without a magnetic field. Magnetoelastomers with different matrix hardness were produced with and without the application of a magnetic field. The curing in magnetic fields results in an oriented, chain-like particle structure and thus a highly anisotropic material behaviour. Furthermore, significantly higher storage modulus values were measured for anisotropic materials with a simultaneously higher viscoelastic loss factor and tan δ values. Moreover, the influence of the magnetic field is much more pronounced for anisotropic magnetoelastomers than for isotropic ones.
