Abstract
ASEA has been responsible for the delivery, erection, and commissioning of the complete drive and control equipment for a small-section mill at Boxholms AB, Sweden. The drive and control equipment are described with special emphasis on the microprocessor-based, direct digital speed-control system. More accurate controls, simpler mill set-up, faster commissioning, and higher reliability are some of the advantages of the new control system.
