Solubility of copper in Outokumpu slag

Abstract

The solubility of copper in Outokumpu commercial slag at 1250°, 1300°, and 1350°C was studied by achieving equilibrium between the slag-reduced Cu–Pb–Fe alloy and CO–CO₂ mixtures. The results are interpreted by making use of the equilibria

Cu₂O_Slag=2CuO_0·5Slag

Cu₂O_Slag=2Cu_alloy+0·5O_2gas
