Some of the practical aspects of the heat treatment of cold-work steels are reviewed. The types of plant available are discussed, with emphasis placed upon vacuum techniques. The metallurgical requirements for the successful manufacture and heat treatment of cold-work steels are included, and some applications of coldwork steels are considered.
