Creep, stress relaxation, and strength at room temperature after aging under strain were studied in a 18%Ni (250) maraging steel. Creep for 3 h at 485°C (the normal aging temperature) of solution-treated alloy under a stress of 63 kg/mm2 results in about 0.8% strain, while stress relaxation from a stress 0f 60 kg/mm2 for 3 h at the same temperature yields 0.2% plastic strain. The room-temperature UTS of the pre-crept or stress-relaxed steel increases with the amount of plastic strain, owing to strain-induced aging.
