Abstract
It is known that speed and current or tension variations have an effect on output gauge. At present, the relationship is not clearly defined and it is difficult for practising engineers to estimate the effect of speed and current or tension variations on gauge accuracy and to specify control accuracy requirements. In this paper, a method of estimating the gauge deviation due to speed and current or tension error is proposedfor cold steel mills. The proposal is based on the method of calculating roll separating force suggested by Stone, and design practice for cold steel rolling mills.
