Abstract
The use of terms referring to the potentials of electrochemical processes is not always consistent in the corrosion literature. Satisfactory definition of the concept of corrosion potential and the methods of measuring it raise a number of theoretical and practical problems. Understanding and correct use of the concept of corrosion potential would increase the effectiveness of exchange of information in the literature. Practical methods of measuring corrosion potential offer only an approximation to the defined corrosion potential; therefore a detailed description of the method ofmeasurment is vital to allow evaluation of published results.
