Abstract
Corrosion rates of galvanised steel in contact with dilute solutions of various chemicals used as industrialfertilisers were determined by potentiodynamic measurement. Deaerated solutions containing up to 20 gl−1 of urea phosphate, phosphoric acid, monoammonium phosphate, zinc sulphate, urea ammonium nitrate, clear ammonium orthophosphate, ammonium sulphate, potassium chloride, ammonium orthophosphate, potassium sulphate, and urea were used in the tests. Uncoated carbon steel was tested in deaerated solutions of monoammonium phosphate, zinc sulphate, potassium sulphate, and ammonium sulphate. The results indicate operating concentrations for satisfactory performance of these metallic materials.
