Abstract
An introductory review is given for corrosion test methods, classified in terms of monitoring and mechanistic study techniques. This classification is adopted rather than one based on common features of the techniques with the aim of guiding corrosion scientists to the optimum methods for their needs. The choice of methods for gaseous, aqueous, and special environments is considered. Many of the references given are themselves reviews which provide openings into the corrosion literature relevant to each technique.
