Abstract
An electrochemical analysis has been carried out on Al brass and Cu9 NilO condenser tubes to define quantitively their suiface finish. It is shown that cathodic reduction of oxygen and of thermal oxide occurs in two separate potential ranges and that the steady oxygen reduction current at −400m V (SCE) is an assessment parameter which correlates well with the degree of oxidation of the tube surface.
