The changes in electrical resistance of α-brass during stress-corrosion cracking showed marked variation at different stages. The number and depth of cracks were determined at definite time intervals and the results compared with the change in resistance. The tests indicated the presence of an incubation period in annealed samples but not in cold-worked samples.
