Abstract
The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) administers credentials for individuals in the fields of sonography and vascular technology to obtain credentials in those fields. The examinations reflect current practices in each of the specialty areas. Task surveys are used by the ARDMS to determine tasks and instrumentation in practice by registered sonographers in that specialty area. The task surveys are analyzed to reveal current practices, and the content outlines for the examinations are revised using the survey results. The results of the 1998 Neurosonology Task Survey are presented; the outline changes are discussed; and the updated content outline is provided.
