Abstract
Myoepithelioma is a benign salivary gland tumor that mainly occurs at the parotid gland and, less commonly, affect minor salivary glands. This case report described the first case of myoepithelioma occurring in the buccal mucosa of a 13-year-old adolescent. The patient’s complaint was a mass in the lower cheek that could be felt inside his mouth, with 7 years of evolution, showing a recent growth spurt. Clinically, a normal, painless nodular lesion, with a sessile base, easily mobilized, of softened consistency, and measuring about 3 cm in its largest diameter could be seen. The patient underwent excisional biopsy of the lesion, histopathological, and immunohistochemical analysis, with final diagnosis of myoepithelioma originated from minor salivary glands. This unprecedented case contributes to report a both unusual location and age group of a rare benign neoplasm in the buccal mucosa.
