The implications of violence for theories of place-making

Abstract

Geographers have written extensively about place-making as a mode of formal and informal politics. One of the key themes is a theorizing of geographical pluralism. This body of work rarely takes head-on the potential for physical violence, however. We explore how consideration of violence poses challenges to contemporary place theory.
