Abstract
This special issue highlights positive social actions—socially oriented behaviors intended to promote well-being for oneself, others, and relationships. Expanding beyond prosocial behavior, these actions include language-based (e.g., gratitude and encouragement) and non-language-based acts (e.g., donating money to charity and instrumental support), and vary from interpersonal to systemic levels. Emphasizing observable actions allows for practical intervention and training to foster flourishing and social justice. We encourage future research on cultural differences, recipient perspectives, and individual skill in enacting positive social actions. Together, these contributions illuminate how positive social actions sustain human flourishing in everyday life and society.
