Abstract
Erythema multiforme (EM) is a type IV hypersensitivity reaction that usually manifests as target lesions and is known to be associated with various medications and infections. We report a case of recurrent EM with underlying occult herpes simplex virus in a patient being treated with biologic therapy for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Occult herpes simplex infection should be considered in patients who have been treated with biologic therapy and develop EM. Recognition of such patients will allow for appropriate prophylaxis therapy so that continued biologic therapy for their primary diagnosis need not be interrupted.
