The Brazilian electro-electronic industry comprises of approximately 4,000 companies. Together, these companies employ 174,000 people and have earned US$ 65 billion in sales in 2014. It is remarkable, however, to note the low representativeness of these companies in the international market. This results in a significant deficit in the trade balance of that productive sector. To investigate the causes of the low share of exports within the total sales of these companies, an exploratory research has been conducted with the main exporters of two regions in Brazil. Our research identifies the lack of international entrepreneurship among CEOs as one of the main causes for this occurrence.
