Abstract
This experiential exercise encourages students to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) while learning about cultural differences among countries. Students will work individually and in small groups to learn to prompt AI and its limitations, while also gaining an appreciation for existing online resources on national culture dimensions. Initially, students ask AI to compare the culture of the United States to any country of their choosing. Starting with a broad question, students later probe and ask AI follow-up questions to seek out more useful information related to Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions. Afterward, students compare what AI generated and what is on Hofstede’s website for similarities and inaccuracies. A discussion follows which allows students to reflect on appropriate uses of AI and its accuracy. This activity is designed for undergraduate students in organizational behavior and principles of management courses.
