Abstract
This case study is about an NGO with good intentions and a strong foundation that embarked on its journey to serve a good cause. It did come across certain hurdles that would have misled it from its mission. But the strong will of the founder members led them in the right direction. Through this case study, the young management student gets an opportunity to tread the path of reality. Here our moral elements and ethics may be questioned. But this case study has shown that although it is extremely difficult to fight for a cause, it is not impossible. It also highlights that whether a for-profit or non-profit organisation, people management issues are always present. The case focuses on various human resource practices in Deepalaya that have brilliantly evolved over a period of time against all odds. It is important for any organisation to iron out all the grey issues and get everything in pen and ink. In this manner, the stability of the institution is assured and thus the achievement of organisational goals.
