Abstract
In May 2014, Griffith University and the Lowy Institute for International Policy jointly organized the conference ‘G20 and Development’. This conference brought together academics, policymakers, representatives of the civil society and other development stakeholders to discuss the role of the G20 as a development actor. Four key themes were addressed: (i) the G20 as a global steering committee: performance and challenges, (ii) the G20 as a development actor: governance, agenda and accountability, (iii) mainstreaming development in the G20 agenda and (iv) G20’s contribution in other development policy areas. This article provides an overview of the discussion around these four themes.
