Abstract
This initial editorial of the premiere issue of Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation (CORE) serves as a foundational description of the journal. Specifically, the editor provides a rationale for promoting a scientist-practitioner framework and encouraging counseling scholarship related to outcome research and evaluation. The editor also discusses the development of CORE in relation to current professional standards and guidelines; describes the Association for Assessment in Counseling and Education’s needs based on its vision and mission; and outlines pertinent manuscript and submission evaluation components.
