Abstract
Many commonly prescribed combination cough, cold, and allergy products have disappeared from pharmacy shelves. In 2011, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took action to remove these products from the US marketplace. This article discusses why the medications are unavailable and how to determine if a product you intend to prescribe is a part of this FDA action. The available alternative antihistamine products are discussed.
