Abstract
The introduction of the new helical CT technique, particularly its innovation in multislice CT, allows an accurate study of the intracranial vascular “architecture”.
The technological progress in 3D imaging, such as maximum intensity projection (MIP) and volume-rendering (VR) technique, appears to be very helpful in detecting intracranial aneurysms, particularly around the circle of Willis. New reconstruction software optimises the evaluation of aneurysm size and the precise visualisation of the neck and its relationship with adjacent structures (vessels, bone …). These non invasive imaging modalities also can improve the correct planning of the following treatments.
