Abstract
Ongoing diabetes self-management education and support is critical to helping youth with diabetes and their families learn about the disease, make and sustain behavioral changes, and cope with the reality of a chronic illness. Diabetes self-management education and support is best provided by a multidisciplinary team. School nurses are an important part of the student’s diabetes health care team. This article highlights information and resources that school nurses can use to help support students with diabetes, their families, and other school personnel.
