Abstract
The U.S. hotel industry has been through a lot during the past twenty-four months, and while its future looks brighter, some concerns remain. Among the concerns are continued additions to room supply and the hotel industry’s still-developing relationship with online travel agents. One unexpected bright spot in the Great Recession was that the hotel industry was able to control its costs so that it was profitable even at remarkably modest rate and occupancy levels.
