Abstract
The compositions of essential oils of the leaves of six Vietnamese species of Fissistigma Griff. (Annonaceae) were determined by means of GC and GC/MS. F. chloroneurum (Hand.-Mazz.) Y. Tsiang yielded an oil in which the major components were (E)-α-bergamotene (52.0%), (E)-β-caryophyllene (9.0%) and β-bisabolene (6.0%). The major components of the leaf oil of F. cupreonitens Merr. et Chun were (E)-β-caryophyllene (27.7%), bicyclogermacrene (14.7%) and α-muurolene (7.1%), whereas those of the leaf oil of F. pallens (Fin. & Gagnep.) Merr. were germacrene D (30.2%), bicyclogermacrene (26.4%) and bicycloelemene (18.3%). The essential oil of F. bicolor (Roxb.) Merr. was very similar, mainly comprised of (E)-β-caryophyllene (13.3%), (E)-α-bergamotene (13.1%), (Z)-β-farnesene (12.3%), p-cymene (8.9%), β-bisabolene (6.6%) and elemol (6.5%). The main constituents of the essential oil of F. shangtzeense Y. Tsiang & P. T. Li were (E)-β -caryophyllene (28.1%), bicyclogermacrene (10.3%) and α-muurolene (8.8%), whereas those of F. petelotii Merr. were α-pinene (15.4%), bicyclogermacrene (13.9%), bicycloelemene (10.8%) and (E)-β-caryophyllene (9.9%)..
