Abstract
The introduction of the 50-kilogram weight class in women's boxing at the Paris Olympics presents new challenges to athletes and coaching teams, necessitating rapid adaptation and a comprehensive understanding of the technical characteristics of this category. This study aimed to identify key technical indicators influencing match outcomes in the female 50-kilogram weight class and classify boxers into distinct technical styles. Data from 76 matches in the Paris Olympics, World, Continental, and National boxing events were collected, with 23 performance indicators representing offensive techniques, distances, and defensive counterattacks. The results showed that winning athletes had significantly higher performance in several technical aspects. Three technical styles were identified using these key indicators: Boxer-Punchers, Swarmers, and Out-Boxers. Distinctive offensive characteristics played a crucial role in distinguishing winners and identifying high-performance groups, while also highlighting the technical advantages of Olympic medalists. The research findings underscore the importance of accuracy, diversity and comprehensiveness in offensive techniques for success. These insights provide valuable guidance for assessing performance and formulating effective match strategies.
